Training in Greenville, SC

Our training is based on learning theory and positive reinforcement. Simply put, we look at why a behavior is happening, what the animal is learning from their experiences, and how we can help them learn a better response.

Rather than focusing only on stopping unwanted behavior, we teach animals what we want them to do instead. We use rewards, clear communication, gradual exposure, environmental management, and practical skills to help build confidence and create lasting behavior change.

Because April Kormanec is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) and Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), training can also complement your pet's veterinary care when medical, emotional, and behavioral concerns overlap.

Training Services

Private training is individualized to you and your pet and may include:

  • Behavior modification – Fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, handling concerns, and other challenging behaviors
  • Basic manners & life skills – Recall, loose-leash walking, settling, attention, impulse control, and everyday skills
  • Cooperative care – Helping pets become comfortable participating in veterinary care, grooming, nail trims, medications, and handling
  • Preparing for Baby – Helping your pet prepare for the sights, sounds, routines, equipment, and lifestyle changes that come with a new baby
  • Finding Your Next Companion – Guidance when choosing a new dog or cat and considering personality, lifestyle, household dynamics, and existing pets
  • Rescue & Shelter Support – Behavior education, handling strategies, enrichment, and practical training support for animals and the people caring for them

Education for Veterinary Teams

April also provides education for veterinary hospitals and their staff. These programs help teams better understand animal body language, recognize fear and stress earlier, and use handling and training techniques that can make veterinary care safer and less stressful for both patients and staff.

Topics can include low-stress restraint and handling, cooperative care, feline and canine body language, Fear Free concepts, Cat Friendly practices, medication training, and understanding behavior in the veterinary setting.

Seminars, Workshops & Lunch & Learns

Educational programs can be customized for veterinary hospitals, shelters, rescues, daycares, pet professionals, and community groups.

Topics may include cooperative care, fear and aggression, separation-related behavior, socialization, dog and cat body language, housetraining, inappropriate feline elimination, loose-leash walking, recall, medication training, grooming and husbandry, and more.

Our goal is simple: understand the behavior, reduce fear and stress, and teach skills that make everyday life easier for both pets and their people. Contact Feeling Pawsitive Veterinary Behavioral Services at (864) 991-8024 to schedule a consultation.
